What I Saw Downtown This Morning

I began my career out of college as a news photographer. I carried a camera 24/7 and was always ready. Those days are gone. I have my iPhone, but getting it ready for photography eats up precious seconds. So I can’t show two of the coolest things I saw this morning: two men, in business suits, riding bicycles.

Imagine me doing the superior dance and chanting:

It’s working, it’s working, all this stuff we’re doing is working! šŸ™‚

The second thing I saw was easy to catch:

Uh… WTH?

The young lady driving this thing apparently felt entitled to park on the corral to make her dash into the Mudhouse for coffee a bit more convenient. Never mind that a motorcyclist might have come by looking for a place to park (and they have been parking there!).

This sense of entitlement isn’t just a car-driven phenomenon. It’s pervasive in our culture. Makes one wish that the golden rule held more sway.

    Golden Rule? Maybe.

Makes me wish that five guys in full leathers on chopped Harleys had shown up while she was inside. If you know what I mean.

Those guys in business suits are clearly not from Texas. 103F on the way home and my work clothes were thankfully in the trunk while I comfortably rode in shorts and tank top. In some sunny spots with dark pavement, the cycle computer hit 119F indicated. Bring it on!

I definitely would’ve parked my bike, of any type, directly behind her to box her in. But I’m a bit of a jerk.
